Family Camp under the Stars to be held at Tai Po Waterfront Park in November (with photos)

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold Storm the Park Day - Family Camp under the Stars@Tai Po Waterfront Park on November 11 and 12 (Saturday and Sunday) to continue the joyful ambience in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). During the event, the park will be turned into a campsite and a carnival venue to let campers set up tents in designated lawns to experience the fun of camping and other activities in a public park.

     Participating campers will enjoy a pleasant and special weekend in the park from 2.30pm on November 11 onwards by taking part in different activities, namely kite flying, fishing, a Floral Display and a Spiral Lookout Tower visit, as well as a wide variety of Night Activity and Day Activity events.

     The Night Activity events, which will include stargazing, folk song singing, an Insect House experience tour and insect appreciation, will be held from 7pm to 10.30pm on November 11. In addition, fun-filled Day Activity events such as an Ecological Path tour, tree orienteering, kite-making and flying, and family fun games will start from 9.30am the next day (November 12). Not only the camping participants, but also all members of the public are welcome to join the Night Activity and Day Activity events on the spot. Camping and Day Activity events will end at noon on November 12.

     Admission for all these activities is free. For camping, interested families should submit application forms in person or by post to the Tai Po Leisure Services Office, the Leisure Link webpage or through Leisure Link Self-service Kiosks from tomorrow (September 26) to October 5. Application forms are available at the District Leisure Services Office or the LCSD's Storm the Park webpage. There will be a quota for the camping activity, and place allocation will be made by ballot on October 10 if the number of applications exceeds the quota. For the Night Activity and Day Activity events, people of all ages are welcome to enrol on the spot. For enquiries, please contact the Tai Po District Leisure Services Office at 3183 9020 during office hours, or visit the LCSD's Storm the Park webpage.

     Family Camp under the Stars@Tai Po Waterfront Park is one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR's establishment. It is also the finale of the Storm the Park series, which has been staged in various parks across the territory since December last year. Over 10 000 people have so far joined in to have fun and "stormed the park" with their families and friends during holidays.
