Exhibition and carnivals among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration (with photos)

     An exhibition and two carnivals will be held in the coming days as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

​     The "Exhibition of Winning Entries of the 42nd Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions" will be held at the Exhibition Gallery, 4/F, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui, from September 26 to 28 (Tuesday to Thursday).

​     Organised by the Home Affairs Department and the Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions Committee, the exhibition will showcase more than 120 winning pieces that include Chinese paintings, Western paintings, Chinese calligraphy, photographs, Chinese story writing, couplets and Chinese poetry writing.

​     The opening ceremony will start at 4.30pm on the first day of the exhibition. Prominent local calligraphists and painters have been invited to demonstrate their skills and participants may have the chance to obtain the artworks.

​     Admission is free. The opening hours of the exhibition will be 4pm to 8pm on September 26, 10am to 8pm on September 27 and 10am to 6pm on September 28. For details, please visit www.hkycac.org. For enquiries, please call 2835 2190.

​     Two fun filled events will take place in Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin to celebrate the 20th anniversary during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
 
​     Organised by the Kwun Tong District Culture and Recreation Promotion Association, Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR - Kwun Tong District Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival 2017 will be held at Hong Ning Road Recreation Ground from 6pm to 9.45pm on September 30 (Saturday).
      
​     The event aims to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR with the local community through a series of activities including game booths and riddles, as well as performances such as dancing and singing shows, Cantonese opera and a magic show. Admission is free.

​     To promote Chiu Chow culture and foster a cohesive community, the Kowloon East Chaoren Association will stage the Celebrating National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Chiu Chow Style Garden Carnival 2017 at hard field No. 3 of Morse Park in Wong Tai Sin on September 30 (Saturday) from 2pm to 9pm.  
 
​     Members of the public are welcome to participate with free admission. Highlight activities will include a Chiu Chow drama, Chiu Chow kung fu tea and snack stalls, booth games and a 3D photo area, as well as a paper aircraft workshop and competition.

​     To share the joy of the 20th anniversary, the HKSAR Government is joining hands with different sectors to organise a wide variety of activities and events under the theme "Together • Progress • Opportunity".

​     Altogether, more than 900 events and activities are being staged by the Government and different sectors until the end of 2017.
