Cessation of appointment of Chairman of Energy Advisory Committee

     The Government today (September 22) announced that Professor Raymond So Wai-man has resigned as the Chairman of the Energy Advisory Committee with effect from September 22, 2017. Cessation of his appointment will be published in the Gazette on September 29, 2017.

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, thanked Professor So for his valuable contributions to the work of the Committee, first as a Member from 2010 to 2012 and subsequently as the Chairman from 2012 to 2017. "Over the past five years, Professor So has led the work of the Committee in tendering invaluable advice to the Government on important energy-related matters, in particular the major reviews relating to the fuel mix for electricity generation, as well as the future development of and post-2018 regulatory arrangements for the electricity market. His expertise and experience in the field, coupled with his devotion, have contributed tremendously to the work of the Committee," he said.

     The Committee advises the Government on energy policy, including policy matters concerning energy supply and demand, energy conservation and efficiency, and other related matters. The Government shall appoint a new Chairman to the Committee and separately announce the appointment later.
