Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis resin (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 20) seized about 14.5 kilograms of suspected cannabis resin with an estimated market value of about $1.3 million at the Hong Kong International Airport.
      
     A male passenger arrived in Hong Kong from India yesterday morning. Upon examination of his check-in baggage, Customs officers found 88 boxes of suspected cannabis resin with a total weight of about 14.5 kg inside the suitcase.
      
     The arrested man, aged 23, has been charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 22).
      
     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
