Correctional officers stop assault by person in custody

At 10.38am, a 41-year-old male person in custody suddenly attacked a 37-year-old male person in custody in the laundry workshop. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcements.
The victim sustained injuries to an ear and an arm. After examination and treatment by the medical officer in the centre hospital, he was transferred to a public hospital for further treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for landing and remaining in Hong Kong without authority to take up employment or establish a business.
