Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po today (September 12), in which a 61-year-old man died.

     At about 7.37pm, a taxi driven by a 70-year-old man was travelling along Lai Chi Kok Road towards Mei Foo. When reaching the junction of Lai Chi Kok Road and Nam Cheong Street, it reportedly knocked down the 61-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious injuries, the man was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.06pm.

     The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
