Temporary traffic arrangements for fourth phase of road repair works at Lion Rock Tunnel Kowloon-bound from this Saturday
******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) today (September 7) reminded members of the public that the fourth phase of the Highways Department's road repair works at the Kowloon exit of the Lion Rock Tunnel will be carried out from 11pm this Saturday (September 9) to 4.30am next Monday (September 11). During the works period, the fast lane of the Lion Rock Tunnel (Kowloon-bound) from its toll plaza to the Kowloon exit will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.

Due to the lane closure, the TD anticipates that the Kowloon-bound traffic at the Lion Rock Tunnel will be very congested. Motorists passing through the road section concerned should exercise tolerance and patience and drive with utmost care. Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on-site to guide motorists.

Motorists are advised to consider using alternative routes such as Route 8 (Tsing Sha Highway), the Shing Mun Tunnels, Tai Po Road or the Tate's Cairn Tunnel to Kowloon.

Commuters taking public transport services are advised to use railway services or bus services via Route 8 (Tsing Sha Highway), the Shing Mun Tunnels, Tai Po Road or the Tate's Cairn Tunnel to Kowloon. They are also advised to plan their journey in advance and allow more travelling time to avoid unexpected delay.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television. Details of the temporary traffic arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).

The road repair works at the Kowloon exit of the Lion Rock Tunnel are being carried out in five phases. The last phase of works is scheduled for next weekend (September 16) depending on weather conditions. Members of the public are advised to pay attention to the temporary traffic arrangements to be announced by the TD later.
