S for IT to visit Sydney

     The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang, will leave for Sydney tomorrow (September 6) for a three-day visit from September 7 to 9 to forge closer ties between Hong Kong and Australia on innovation and technology.
 
     While in Sydney, Mr Yang will meet senior officials in charge of innovation and technology to learn more about Australia's National Innovation and Science Agenda and its innovation support programmes. He will visit the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation entity Data61, two incubators and the Australian Securities Exchange to gain a deeper understanding of Australia's research and development efforts, the latest developments in the start-up ecosystem and measures to promote listing of technology companies.
 
     Mr Yang will also attend two large-scale events in Sydney in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He will speak at the Hong Kong 20: Developments and Opportunities Business Forum organised by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney on Friday (September 8) and officiate at the HK20 Fun Fun Carnival organised by the Hong Kong-Australia Business Association New South Wales Chapter on Saturday (September 9).
 
     Mr Yang will return to Hong Kong on Saturday right after attending the carnival. In his absence, the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr David Chung, will act as Secretary for Innovation and Technology.
