CS expresses concern over UK student visa applications

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, met with the British Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao, Mr Andrew Heyn, this morning (September 4) to express grave concern over a number of Hong Kong students who have not yet received their visas so far for studying in the United Kingdom (UK) in this school year.

     During the meeting, Mr Cheung urged Mr Heyn to continue to liaise closely with the UK Home Office to speed up the processing of the visa applications by Hong Kong students as a matter of urgency.

     Mr Cheung said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is very concerned about the issue. He expressed the hope that the relevant visa applications could be approved as soon as possible. He was assured by Mr Heyn that the UK Government is doing its best to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
