Shek O Beach and Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach reopened

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has announced that Shek O Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island, and Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach in Islands District have been reopened today (September 1). The beaches were temporarily closed earlier for clearance work and maintenance of shark prevention nets after the typhoon.

     Meanwhile, Deep Water Bay Beach, Chung Hom Kok Beach and Turtle Cove Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; Hung Shing Yeh Beach, Pui O Beach, Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Tong Fuk Beach in Islands District; and Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District remain closed until further notice as more time is needed for repairing damaged shark prevention nets or clearing debris due to the typhoon's impact. Red flags have been hoisted at the beaches. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beaches.
