Government welcomes reappointment to Board of Financial Dispute Resolution Centre

     The Government welcomes the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre's (FDRC) reappointment of Mr Frederick Kan Ka-chong as non‐official Director to its Board. The appointment is for a term of two years, from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2019.
 
     A government spokesman said today (August 31), "We welcome Mr Kan to continue serving on the Board of the FDRC and express our heartfelt thanks to his contributions to the Board over the past four years."
 
     The FDRC administers in an independent and impartial manner a financial dispute resolution scheme to provide customers with an alternative avenue which is independent and affordable for resolving monetary disputes with financial institutions by way of "Mediation First, Arbitration Next". It is governed by a Board of Directors, comprising the non-official Chairman, four non-official members, one representative from each of the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the FDRC.
