Several beaches reopened

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

    The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced that St Stephen's Beach, Stanley Main Beach and Middle Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; as well as Kiu Tsui Beach and Clear Water Bay First Beach in Sai Kung District have been reopened today (August 26). The beaches were temporarily closed earlier for clearance work and maintenance of shark prevention nets after the typhoon.

    Meanwhile, Deep Water Bay Beach, Repulse Bay Beach, Chung Hom Kok Beach, Turtle Cove Beach, Shek O Beach and Big Wave Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; Hung Shing Yeh Beach, Lo So Shing Beach, Kwun Yam Beach, Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach, Pui O Beach, Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Tong Fuk Beach in Islands District; Trio Beach, Hap Mun Bay Beach, Silverstrand Beach and Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District; and Hoi Mei Wan Beach and Ting Kau Beach in Tsuen Wan District remain closed until further notice as longer time is needed for repairing damaged shark prevention nets or clearing debris due to the typhoon's impact. Red flags have been hoisted at the beaches. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beaches.
