     The Government announced today (August 24) that Mr Yau Kin-chung, ex-District Officer (North), will succeed Ms Winnie Ng Ching-ching as Secretary General, Joint Secretariat for the Advisory Bodies on Civil Service and Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service on September 4, 2017.

     Commenting on the appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, said, "Mr Yau is a seasoned Administrative Officer with proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that he will serve the community with professionalism in his new capacity."

     Brief biographical notes on Mr Yau are set out below:

     Mr Yau joined the Administrative Service in July 1995 and rose to the rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade C in July 2007. He has served in various policy bureaux and departments, including the Home Affairs Department, the former Chief Secretary's Office, the former Constitutional Affairs Bureau, the former Health, Welfare and Food Bureau and the Housing Department. He was Assistant Director of Administration from September 2005 to July 2008, Principal Assistant Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce and Industry) from July 2008 to November 2012, and District Officer (North) from November 2012 to August 2017.
