CE meets Governor of Hubei Province (with photos)
*************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, met the Governor of Hubei Province, Mr Wang Xiaodong, at the Chief Executive's Office this morning (August 16).

Mrs Lam welcomed Mr Wang's first visit to Hong Kong after his assumption of office. Noting that the Hubei Government has organised an annual event in Hong Kong to promote Hubei-Hong Kong economic and trade co-operation since 2002, she wished every success for the event this year.

Mrs Lam said Hong Kong and Hubei have frequent contacts and close ties in economic and trade areas. After the commissioning of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link in the third quarter next year, the travelling time by direct train between Wuhan and Hong Kong will be shortened to four and a half hours only, bringing about a closer relationship between the two places. Mrs Lam encouraged Hubei enterprises to continue making use of Hong Kong as the prime location to "go global" as well as "attract foreign capital".

Mrs Lam also thanked the Hubei Government for its staunch support for the work of the Economic and Trade Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Wuhan (WHETO). WHETO will continue to strengthen connections with different sectors in Hubei and enhance exchanges and co-operation with Hubei in areas including economic and trade affairs as well as culture, youth and talents.
