SHA to visit youth interns in Shenzhen
**************************************
The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, will leave for Shenzhen tomorrow afternoon (August 17) to visit Hong Kong youths taking up internships in Qianhai.

Mr Lau will first visit the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub to meet with young Hong Kong interns who are working in Qianhai and places nearby. The scope of their work includes event planning, administration and policy support. He will later proceed to the Shenzhen Qianhai Agricultural Products Exchange Co Ltd to exchange views with other Hong Kong tertiary students and learn about their job attachment as well as their living conditions in Qianhai.

The above two internship programmes are sponsored by the Funding Scheme for Youth Internship in the Mainland co-organised by the Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission on Youth. The Scheme subsidises community bodies, youth organisations, institutions and uniformed groups to organise internship programmes which enable Hong Kong youths to have personal experiences of actual workplace environments in the Mainland and deepen their understanding of the Mainland, with a view to helping them set goals for their future careers and enhance their competitiveness in employment. The Funding Scheme has sponsored 293 internship programmes since 2015.

Mr Lau will return to Hong Kong in the evening on the same day.
