Transcript of remarks by CE at media session before ExCo meeting (with video)
*****************************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session before the Executive Council meeting this morning (August 15):

Reporter: Mrs Lam, how do you feel about the latest event over Howard Lam and claimed of being abducted, now that the CCTV footage suggested he was safe and well at the time. How would it affect the trust between the government and the Democratic Party? Sorry, I have a second question about the Tuen Mun Hing Tak School. Do you think that is revealing the problem of a lack of supervision on the part of the education…?

Chief Executive: Well, the case of Mr Lam is purely a case which is under investigation by the police. From the beginning till this moment, I have absolutely no involvement in this case and I have every confidence that our police colleagues will fully investigate the case, of course, with the co-operation of the person involved. So, I have no particular comment. The important thing is for society to have confidence and trust in our law enforcement bodies. They would investigate in a very fair and equitable and open manner.

About the second question, I take it very seriously because the school is a subsidised school providing education services for our students, so if the governance of that particular school is in trouble, we cannot be assured of the quality of the education services provided to the students. So the Secretary for Education will do all he could within his statutory powers to interfere and to make sure that everything will be back to the normal track.
