LegCo Members to attend forum and meeting organised by Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development in Vietnam
******************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

Legislative Council (LegCo) Members Dr Elizabeth Quat, Dr Junius Ho and Ms Yung Hoi-yan will attend the Multistakeholder Forum on Investing in Healthy and Active Ageing for Sustainable Growth (the Forum), as well as the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) Standing Committee Meeting on Active Ageing (the Meeting) to be held from August 15 to 16 and August 17 respectively in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

AFPPD which co-organises the Forum and convenes the Meeting serves as a coordinating body of 29 National Committees of Parliamentarians on Population and Development. It engages with parliamentarians from Asia and the Pacific to champion policies on population and development, focusing on, inter alia, active ageing. The Forum will provide a platform for multistakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities presented by rapid ageing in Asia-Pacific economies. The LegCo Members will attend the Meeting as special observers, where they will have an opportunity to share experiences on how to protect elderly persons' rights to health and well-being.

The participation in the Forum and the Meeting has been nominated by the LegCo Panel on Welfare Services and endorsed by the LegCo House Committee.
