Over 230 000 people actively support Sport For All Day 2017

     Sport For All Day 2017 was held successfully yesterday (August 6) by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). More than 230 000 people participated in free recreation and sports programmes at designated venues in the 18 districts and enjoyed free use of the LCSD's leisure facilities.

     "Sport For All Day was also one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this year. Members of the public enthusiastically supported the event yesterday. More than 198 000 people used our free facilities. A usage rate of over 97 per cent was recorded for the main arenas of sport centres, and 112 000 people enjoyed swimming for free at LCSD swimming pools," a spokesman for the LCSD said today (August 7).

     Free recreation programmes of Sport For All Day 2017 included dance participation activities, health talks and exercise demonstrations, family mini-games, sports activities for people with different abilities and other sports participation activities. More than 36 000 people took part in these programmes.

     The spokesman said the LCSD will continue to promote sport for all in the community and the benefits of doing exercise regularly. All Hong Kong people are encouraged to keep exercising for a better healthy lifestyle.
