First batch of residents moves into On Tai Estate (with photos)
***************************************************************
The first batch of residents at On Tai Estate, On Sau Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, have begun moving into two of the domestic blocks. The estate is one of the public rental housing (PRH) estates within the Anderson Road Development Area. This shows the continuous efforts of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) to provide affordable rental housing to low-income families with housing needs.

"The two non-standard domestic blocks, namely Ming Tai House and Chi Tai House, are 31 storeys and 32 storeys high respectively, providing a total of about 1 500 PRH units for about 4 300 residents," a spokesman for the HA said today (August 6).

Two more non-standard domestic blocks, namely Yung Tai House and Kam Tai House, both 26 storeys high, will begin intake of residents in the third quarter of this year, providing about 1 350 more units for about 3 600 residents.

An outdoor children's playground is now open for use. Other recreational facilities including a basketball court, a badminton court and table-tennis tables will be opening this year. In addition, there will be a community farm for residents' use.

A shopping centre, a wet market, a carpark, two kindergartens and a community service centre will be completed by the end of this year.

The intake of residents for the rest of the seven domestic blocks at On Tai Estate will take place in phases before the second quarter of next year. There will be around 8 500 PRH units for about 25 000 residents, upon completion of the intake for the entire estate.
