SED and US(Ed) on appointment of US(Ed) (with photo)
****************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, and the Under Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, at a media session at the lobby of the West Wing, Central Government Offices, today (August 2):

Reporter: Dr Choi, there is vocal opposition from the education sector to your appointment. Does that make your job virtually impossible? How do you plan to win back those critics? Mr Yeung, given the opposition, is Dr Choi your choice or first choice?

Secretary for Education: Let me answer the question first because it is very simple. Dr Choi is my first choice.

Under Secretary for Education: I know that it would be very challenging but I still have the confidence that I can communicate and will look forward to different opportunities to have constructive discussion with different stakeholders. I understand that there are different views on my appointment. I think that I will try my best to communicate and talk to those parties.
