Update on cluster of Influenza A cases in TWGHs Wong Tai Sin Hospital

Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of patients infected with Influenza A in an Infirmary Ward of the Department of Rehabilitation and Extended Care, the spokesperson for Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital gave the following update today (July 28):
One more 69-year-old male patient in the ward had presented with fever and respiratory symptoms. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patient and the test results were positive for Influenza A. The patient is being treated under isolation with stable condition.
Restricted visiting has been imposed in the ward. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
