Two talented HK choreographers to stage double-bill dance show in "New Force in Motion" Series
******************************************************************************************
Talented young Hong Kong choreographers Rex Cheng and K T Yau will stage their new dance works "Solitary" and "Unmixed" under the "New Force in Motion" Series in September.

Through his work "Solitary", Rex Cheng hopes to let the audience know more about the pain endured by patients with chronic diseases and truly acknowledge and have a good look at the related social issues. Audience members may also reflect on the attitudes they should have towards patients and cherish everything they own now.

K T Yau aims to depict the shackles of the social system through art in "Unmixed". The production also explores the various possibilities beyond the system. She hopes her work will display a kind of imagination on stage and illustrate how people should keep a distance in taking care of themselves in a world filled with regulations. The work also highlights the humility of individuals within the system.

Rex Cheng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Chinese Dance. The former resident dancer for DanceArt Hong Kong is currently a freelance dancer. Cheng appeared in "Human Internship", a dance work choreographed by Justyne Li as part of the "Springboard Showcase 2016" organised by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, and "The Rite of Spring" choreographed by Dick Wong for Zuni Icosahedron. He has also presented his own choreography works, including "Rehearsal", "No. 36", "Tear Up/Gear Down", "Bingo?!" and "On/Off?" as part of the "Real Showcase" Series for the City Contemporary Dance Company Dance Centre. He also choreographed "The Butcher" for the Emerging Artists Scheme of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

K T Yau graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in contemporary dance. Yau was formerly a dancer for Y-Space and is currently a freelance artist. Some of her recent performances include "On & On & Turn Turn Turn" for Y-Space (2015) and "Diffusion of the Silence" (2015), as well as "Heaven Behind the Door" in the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2014 under the Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series. Yau went to Israel to further her studies in 2016, taking up courses and exchanging ideas with the Vertigo Dance Company.
