******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department today (July 25) announced that the first phase of field trial of the new parking meter system trial scheme at Tung Choi Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street South in Mong Kok will be completed at midnight this Thursday (July 27).

Existing parking meters accepting Octopus payment only will be reinstated in the aforementioned areas, and will be in operation from 8am on July 28 onwards.

The hours of operation of the parking meters at the locations concerned are from 8am to midnight on Mondays to Saturdays, and from 10am to 10pm on general holidays. Appropriate traffic signs have been erected on-site to guide motorists.

The field trial of the trial scheme is being implemented in two phases with each phase lasting for about nine months, with the aim of assessing the new features and functions to be adopted in a new generation of parking meters. The first phase of field trial was launched in Yuen Long and Mong Kok in October 2016. The second phase of field trial will be launched in Sai Kung and Wan Chai, details of which will be finalised later.
