Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok today (July 20), in which an 86-year-old man died.

     At about 9.40am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 39-year-old man was travelling along Soy Street eastbound. When turning right to Shanghai Street, it reportedly knocked down the 86-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head injuries, the man was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.13am.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in late-August.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
