HeBROS offers greater convenience in retrieving building records (with photos)
******************************************************************************
With the growing interest in the subsidised housing secondary market, there is a greater need for referring to the building records for carrying out alterations and renovation. Thanks to the Housing Electronic Building Records Online System (HeBROS), retrieving building records is made easy and convenient.

HeBROS provides as-built plans, structural calculations, slope reports and other related documents of completed buildings in the Housing Authority (HA) managed public rental housing (PRH) estates, Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) courts and divested properties. There are over 270 000 records available for users to access.

Information gathered from HeBROS may be used by local users for building works design in accordance with the provisions of the Buildings Ordinance, including plan approval, licensing application, alterations and renovation, building repair and improvement works.

Upon successful registration, users may search for the information they need by estate or file type and can pay for viewing the records, order copies of records online at any time and any place, and obtain copies via courier service without the need to visit the HeBROS service counter in person. Users usually receive the ordered copies within several days.

The HeBROS website is customer-oriented and easy to use. The webpages have been specially designed to enhance usability and navigation in order to suit the sequence from searching to viewing and ordering copies. With the help of the supporting team, zero downtime for the system has been achieved so far. For enquiries, please call 3162 0621 or email hebros_cs@housingauthority.gov.hk.

"Since launching in December 2014, there are now over 2 300 registered users, including building professionals, contractors and the general public," the Head of the Independent Checking Unit (ICU) in charge of the system, Mr Chan Nap-ming, said.

"Other government departments may access the system using the distributed tokens. Currently, an average of more than 200 enquiries and 200 viewing and copying orders are handled each month," he added.

The ICU is directly under the Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Housing) and exercises building control of the HA properties and divested properties.

HeBROS does not provide design and construction drawings such as plumbing diagrams, electrical layout and window details.

Private properties and Private Sector Participation Scheme properties are not covered under the HeBROS services. These properties can be found in the Buildings Department's Building Records Access and Viewing Online system.
