FS attends G20 Leaders' Summit in Hamburg, Germany (with photos)

     The Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, today (July 7, Hamburg time) attended the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit in Hamburg, Germany, as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China.

     The theme of the G20 Leaders Summit this year is "Shaping an Interconnected World". A wide range of issues will be discussed, such as promoting sustainable development of global economy, improving international financial architecture, strengthening financial regulation, deepening international tax co-operation, driving economic growth through digitalisation as well as combating terrorist financing and money laundering.

     After his arrival in Hamburg yesterday (July 6, Hamburg time), Mr Chan held a meeting with the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany, Dr Thomas Steffen, to exchange views on global economic outlook and to strengthen economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Germany.

     Tomorrow (July 8, Hamburg time), Mr Chan will continue to take part in the G20 Leaders' Summit.  He will also meet with the Minister of Economy and Finance of Italy, Mr Pier Carlo Padoan.

     Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong in the morning on July 10 (Monday).
