Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Mitsuizosen Technoservice Hongkong Limited and Hang Cheung Engineering Co were fined $40,000 and $28,000 respectively at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (July 7) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Electricity) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 30, 2016, at a container terminal in Kwai Chung. A worker was electrocuted while he was engaged in electrical wiring work inside the body of a quay crane.
