Military bands to perform in "International Military Tattoo" next week (with photo)

     Military bands from the Mainland and overseas will perform in the "International Military Tattoo" next week from July 13 to 15 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. An outdoor carnival will also be held on July 15 and 16 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

     The programme will provide a splendid showcase of pride and glory that lovers of military band music should not miss. Military bands performing at the shows will include the Military Band of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Military Band of the Chinese PLA Navy, the Guard of Honour of the Chinese PLA, the Guard of Honour of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese PLA, the Central Military Band of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, the Band of the Royal Netherlands Army Mounted Regiments, the Brass Band of the Red-Banner Eastern Military District's Headquarters (Khabarovsk) from Russia, the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland with the Pipes and Drums of the 7th Battalion and the US 7th Fleet Band. The Hong Kong Police Band, the Hong Kong Association of Choral Societies and Studiodanz will also participate in the performances.

     The "International Military Tattoo" is presented by the Home Affairs Bureau, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong). It is one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The performances will be staged at 8pm from July 13 to 15 (Thursday to Saturday). Tickets priced at $150 and $250 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). Tickets priced at $350 are sold out.      Meet-the-bands activities will be held before each performance from 7pm to 7.45pm at the Piazza of the Hong Kong Coliseum with free admission. Members of the public are welcome to attend and take photos with the bands' members.

     Moreover, a two-day outdoor carnival will be held from 2.30pm to 5.30pm on July 15 and 16 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre with game stalls, performances (4pm to 5pm) by selected visiting military bands and representatives from local disciplined services and more. Admission is free.
