Special stamp issue: "Children Stamps - The Five Senses" (with photos)
**********************************************************************
Hongkong Post announced today (July 3) the issue of a set of special children's stamps on the theme "The Five Senses", together with associated philatelic products, on July 18 (Tuesday).

This set of five special stamps, entitled "Children Stamps - The Five Senses", features lively and interesting designs and makes use of different printing effects to depict the five senses of hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch. This will not only give children a deeper understanding of the different senses, but will also stimulate their curious young minds.

Hongkong Post, for the first time, has applied a different printing effect on each stamp. The stamp for "Hearing" has sand powder applied to its surface by thermography, so that rubbing the surface of the stamp makes a sound. On the stamp for "Sight", the round lens of the camera has been removed by die-cutting so one can peep in  the hole and see the world through the lens of the camera. The stamp for "Smell" is peach-scented, which can be detected by sniffing the printed surface. The gum on the back of the stamp for "Taste" is vanilla-flavoured in keeping with the theme. The basketball on the stamp for "Touch" is augmented by applying heat inflating ink to simulate the feel of a real basketball.

To complement the stamp issue, augmented reality (AR) technology is applied to the corresponding stamp sheetlet. By scanning the stamp sheetlet with the "HKPostStamps" mobile app, 3D images of the children on the stamp sheetlet and various activities related to the five senses will be displayed.

The updated version of the mobile app "HKPostStamps" can be downloaded from the App Store (for iOS devices), the Play Store (for Android devices), or the Hongkong Post Stamps website (www.hongkongpoststamps.hk) from July 18 onwards. This mobile app also provides quick access to online shopping via "ShopThruPost" (www.shopthrupost.hk), enabling you to purchase Hongkong Post's philatelic products anytime and anywhere.

Official First Day Covers at $1.30 each will be on sale at all post offices from tomorrow (July 4). The stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from tomorrow to July 10.

Information about this special stamp issue and associated philatelic products is available on the Hongkong Post website at www.hongkongpost.hk and via the Hongkong Post mobile app.
