President Xi concludes Hong Kong visit (with photos/video)

    President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan concluded their visit in Hong Kong this afternoon (July 1).
    Seeing them off at the airport apron were the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam and her husband, Mr Lam Siu-por, and former Chief Executive Mr C Y Leung.

    Joining them were Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr Tung Chee Hwa; the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Zhang Xiaoming; the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung; the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan; the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; the President of the Legislative Council, Mr Andrew Leung; the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council, Mr Bernard Chan; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, Mr Xie Feng; the Commander-in-chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Tan Benhong; and the Political Commissar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Yue Shixin.
     Before his departure, President Xi this morning attended the Celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland and the Inaugural Ceremony of the Fifth Term HKSAR Government and swore in the Chief Executive and the Principal Officials.
     He then witnessed the signing of the Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Bay Area. This was followed by a visit to the construction site of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Link Road project.
     President Xi was also briefed on the latest progress of work on the Three-runway System at the Hong Kong International Airport.
