The Inaugural Ceremony of the Fifth Term Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was held this morning (July 1) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

     President Xi Jinping, who is in Hong Kong for this special occasion, swore in the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, and the Principal Officials.

     The Chief Executive then swore in members of the Executive Council.

     The wife of President Xi, Peng Liyuan, also attended the ceremony.

     Joining today’s ceremony were about 2,000 guests, including representatives from the Central Government, members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, political and economic figures, local dignitaries, senior executives of Hong Kong-based Chinese enterprises, and members of the foreign diplomatic corps.
