LegCo Members meet with members of Sha Tin and Kwun Tong District Councils (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held separate meetings today (June 30) with members of the Sha Tin District Council (DC) and the Kwun Tong DC respectively at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Sha Tin DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on a number of issues: serious shortage of parking spaces for goods vehicles and coaches in Sha Tin; "Universal Accessibility" Programme in Sha Tin; transport and community facilities in Shui Chuen O Estate; transportation issues of new public housing estates in Sha Tin; and progress of the outstanding projects of the former Regional Council. The meeting was convened by Dr Elizabeth Quat and attended by Mr Tommy Cheung, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Dr Fernando Cheung, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Alvin Yeung, Mr Lam Cheuk-ting, Mr Holden Chow, Ms Yung Hoi-yan and Mr Lau Kwok-fan.

     As for the meeting with the Kwun Tong DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on issues relating to the pedestrian accessibility in the vicinity of the United Christian Hospital, including the requests for provision of a lift tower near Sau Ming Road Park and a barrier-free access facility near Hiu Lai Court by the Government; and the traffic congestion problem in the Kowloon Bay Business Area. The meeting was convened by Mr Paul Tse and attended by Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Wong Kwok-kin, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Ho Kai-ming, Mr Wilson Or, Mr Chan Chun-ying, Mr Lau Kwok-fan and Mr Jeremy Tam.
