Wife of President Xi visits elderly care facility (with photos/video)

     The wife of President Xi Jinping, Peng Liyuan, visited senior citizens at TWGHs Jockey Club Sunshine Complex for the Elderly in Wong Chuk Hang this morning (June 30) to learn how the elderly services sector made use of innovative technology in enhancing the quality of elderly care.
 
     Peng viewed the facilities and activities in the elderly complex, accompanied by the wife of the Chief Executive, Mrs Regina Leung; Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Ms Yin Xiaojing; the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Stephen Sui; the Director of Social Welfare, Ms Carol Yip; and the Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Dr Lee Yuk-lun.
 
     At the rehabilitation room, Peng was briefed by an occupational therapist on the use of innovative rehabilitation devices in therapeutic training for the elderly. She also toured the complex’s residential block, Jockey Club Harmony Villa, where she chatted with the nurses and the residents to learn about their daily lives.
 
     She then proceeded to the complex hall to watch the drawing and making of handicrafts by the elderly residents. Peng mingled with them and took part in the making of pop-up cards. To express gratitude for her visit, two elderly representatives presented her with their drawings.
 
     Before her departure, Peng presented a health integrated scale and a television set as gifts for the complex.
