The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
 
     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held separate meetings today (June 23) with members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (DC) and the Kwai Tsing DC respectively at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
 
     During the meeting with Yau Tsim Mong DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on a number of issues including management of the Mong Kok Pedestrian Precinct; problems arising from unauthorised sub-division of flat units in buildings and the countermeasures against these problems; impact of the Fire Safety (Buildings) Ordinance (Cap 572) on owners of old buildings in Yau Tsim Mong District; and Government's refusal to consult stakeholders, including owners' corporations and residents of the buildings concerned on licensing of guesthouses. The meeting was convened by Mr Yiu Si-wing and attended by Mr Tommy Cheung, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Dr Priscilla Leung, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Christopher Cheung, Dr Helena Wong, Mr Poon Siu-ping, Dr Chiang Lai-wan, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Chan Chun-ying, Mr Jeremy Tam and Dr Lau Siu-lai.

     As for the meeting with Kwai Tsing DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues including improving public transport services and related issues; proposals to retrofit lifts and pedestrian crossing facilities in Kwai Tsing District; review of Well-off Tenants Policies; early rehabilitation and opening of Kwai Chung Park; and reserving sites for the redevelopment of Princess Margaret Hospital. The meeting was convened by Professor Joseph Lee and attended by Ms Starry Lee, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Frankie Yick, Mr Chan Han-pan, Mr Leung Che-cheung, Ms Alice Mak, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Andrew Wan, Mr Chu Hoi-dick, Mr Holden Chow, Mr Lau Kwok-fan and Mr Kwong Chun-yu.
