The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (June 23) presented the Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence (CEATE) (2016/2017) to 18 teachers at an award presentation ceremony held at the Central Government Offices. The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, presented the Certificate of Merit to 14 teachers.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the CEATE Steering Committee, Mr Duffy Wong said, "The awarded teachers have adopted effective and innovative teaching strategies and diverse learning approaches to develop students' ability in self-directed learning and foster their whole-person development. The awardees deserve commendation for their passion for teaching and their exemplary teaching practices."
Mr Wong said that since the launch of CEATE in 2003, more than 800 teachers from different themes have been awarded and the award has won community-wide recognition. He said he believed that the awarded teachers would actively disseminate their excellent teaching practices with a view to inspiring other fellow teachers to strive for excellence and enhance the standard of learning and teaching. Looking ahead, future CEATEs would further maximise its influence, fostering the professional development of teachers and contributing towards a better future for Hong Kong education, he added.
