Nederlands Dans Theater to perform modern dance in November
***********************************************************
Returning to Hong Kong after almost a decade's absence, the internationally acclaimed Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) will give two modern dance performances in the city in November.

NDT is one of the Netherlands' most productive dance companies and is highly regarded around the world. The company has always been ambitious and idiosyncratic. Since its founding in 1959, NDT has tried to pave its own way in the modern dance field and has built a rich repertoire of 600 pieces by master choreographers and high-profile guests.

Thirty years ago it was decided to divide the company into two groups, namely NDT 1 and NDT 2. The former consists of 28 phenomenal dancers from all over the world. They excel in their solo qualities and are renowned for their versatility, technique and virtuosic expression. The latter focuses on nurturing new talents.

The performances will be staged at 8pm on November 11 (Saturday) and at 3pm on November 12 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of the Kwai Tsing Theatre. The repertoire includes "In the Event" (choreographed by Crystal Pite), "Shutters Shut" (choreographed by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot), "Woke up Blind" (choreographed by Marco Goecke) and "Safe as Houses" (choreographed by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot) and will be performed by members of NDT 1.

The performances by NDT are presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced at $200, $350, $450 and $550 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
