Singapore-based Li Da Foods uses Hong Kong to expand across Asia (with photos)
******************************************************************************
Li Da Foods from Singapore announced today (June 14) that it has set up a food factory in Hong Kong as the first part of a global expansion plan utilising the city's international status to spread its business across the region.

The 3,000-sq-ft food factory is located in Kwun Tong with a licensed central kitchen to prepare meal orders. Ordering is simple. Customers select their meals on the website of food delivery service AMGD and have their food sent to their doorstep.

AMGD has an eclectic menu that is accented by artisanal sauces and condiments. The menu features protein-packed meals with lots of greens, and superfoods such as nuts and fruits. Co-Founder of Li Da Foods Ms Rita Zahara said that digital booking allows the company to plan manpower and ingredients in advance to save costs and improve efficiency.

She said that the city's easy business environment, strong logistics infrastructure and international status are among the factors behind the company's choice of Hong Kong in its Asia foray. "As a large part of our business relies on quick and efficient delivery, Hong Kong's sophisticated and convenient logistics infrastructure plays a key role in our business strategy."

She added, "Both Hong Kong and Singapore share a lot in common in terms of food market and culture, as well as an easy business environment like a low and simple tax regime. These similarities give us a very good head start in establishing our international springboard in Hong Kong."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang welcomed Li Da Foods setting a foothold in Hong Kong. He said, "Li Da Foods has added another brand in our bourgeoning e-food market. I am confident that it will find our city a good leverage point from which it can take its business further to other Asian markets."
