Acting SFH conducts home visits in Yuen Long District under "Celebrations for All" project (with photos)

     The Acting Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, visited elderly households and families in need living in Yuen Long District under the "Celebrations for All" project today (June 9).

     Speaking at the launching ceremony, Professor Chan, said, "The 'Celebrations for All' project is one of the major events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Organisations participating in the project will deploy volunteers to visit and distribute gift packs to single or couple-occupied elderly households and needy families in the district, bringing them the love, care and positive energy of the community.

     "Home visit programmes in Yuen Long District are supported by 10 organisations. They have mobilised hundreds of volunteers to visit more than 13 000 households, to show care and celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland together. We hope to enhance interaction with the public through these home visits," she said.

     Accompanied by the District Officer (Yuen Long), Mr Edward Mak; the Acting District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long), Mr James Lam; and the Chairman of Yuen Long District Council, Mr Shum Ho-kit, Professor Chan visited three households with volunteers after the launching ceremony to learn more about their daily lives.

     The Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mrs Cherry Tse; the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mr Patrick Nip; the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan; and the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Dr Leung Siu-fai, also participated in today’s home visits.
