Cluster of Influenza A cases at Kowloon Hospital

The spokesperson of Kowloon Hospital (KH) made the following announcement today (May 25):
Seven patients (aged 18 to 91) and three staff members in a male psychiatric ward of KH had presented with upper respiratory tract infection symptoms since May 19. Appropriate viral tests were arranged and their test results were positive for Influenza A. The patients concerned are being treated under isolation with stable condition. The staff members concerned are currently on sick leave.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
