SED to attend international education conference in UK

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave for the United Kingdom (UK) this Sunday (May 21) to attend and speak at Going Global 2017, an international education conference organised by the British Council, in London next week.
      
     Leaders in international education will deliberate on the future of further and higher education at the conference, to be held between May 22 and 24. This year's theme will be "Global cities: connecting talent, driving change".

     In addition to attending the plenary, Mr Ng will join experts of the UK and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to speak at one of the parallel sessions on "City 2050: building skills for an uncertain future". Mr Ng will also hold bilateral meetings with education officials from around the world.

     In addition, Mr Ng will visit two local universities for further exchanges on higher education. He will also take the opportunity to meet Hong Kong students furthering studies under the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, as well as Hong Kong business people in London.
      
     Officers accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to the UK will include the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu, and the Political Assistant to the SED, Mr Jeff Sze. They will return to Hong Kong on May 25.
      
     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
