******************************************************************************************
Under the Sha Tin Greening Master Plan (GMP) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department, about 360,000 shrubs and 650 trees have been planted in the district, providing the public with more green space that is both pleasant and attractive.

Officiating at the Sha Tin GMP planting ceremony today (May 10), the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Lam Sai-hung, said that the Government has been actively promoting greening works to provide a better living environment for the public. In line with the concept of "Green Community", the department has introduced the GMP, which sets out greening frameworks and themes as well as identifying suitable plant species and planting locations for various districts. Through orderly implementation of greening works, the GMP aims to achieve a sustainable and coherent greening effect.

"Construction works for the Sha Tin GMP commenced in December 2014, covering more than 200 locations. Apart from Sha Tin, greening works for Sai Kung, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun under the respective GMPs are also in progress. All these projects are nearly completed," he said.

Mr Lam thanked the Sha Tin District Council, the Sha Tin Rural Committee and district organisations for their invaluable advice and support during the implementation of the Sha Tin GMP. He also thanked the residents for their forbearance with respect to any inconvenience arising from the works.

Officiating guests at the event today included the District Officer (Sha Tin), Miss Amy Chan, and the Chairman of Sha Tin District Council, Mr Ho Hau-cheung.
