***************************************************************
The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, on May 9 (Madrid time) signed an air services agreement on behalf of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with the Kingdom of Spain in Madrid.

Representing the Kingdom of Spain to sign the agreement was the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr Iñigo de la Serna.

The agreement provides a legal framework for establishing air links between Hong Kong and Spain, which will promote economic development and cultural exchanges between the two places.

Professor Cheung said the agreement is the 67th signed by Hong Kong with its overseas aviation partners. Spain is an important aviation partner of Hong Kong in Europe. The signing of the air services agreement is an important milestone in the bilateral relations between the two places and will create more opportunities for the two economies. Hong Kong looks forward to strengthening co-operation with Spain in the future after the signing of the agreement.
