Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for tram track renewal works in Western District from next Monday
***************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (May 4) reminded the public that to facilitate tram track renewal work in Western District, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented from 10am next Monday (May 8) to 9.59am on May 17 (Wednesday):

Road closure
--------------

The section of Davis Street southbound between Catchick Street and Hau Wo Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except trams and vehicles heading to the car park of the Merton).

Traffic Diversion
------------------

(1) Hau Wo Street will be temporarily converted to one-way westbound traffic; and

(2) Affected vehicles on Catchick Street heading for Hau Wo Street via Davis Street southbound will be diverted via Smithfield southbound.

Green minibus (GMB) diversion
-----------------------------------

GMB route 23 (heading for Kennedy Town) will be diverted via Catchick Street eastbound and Smithfield southbound, and then resume its original routing.

Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists.

The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected area will be more congested than it is on normal days. Members of the public are advised to plan their journey early and allow more traveling time to cater for unexpected delay. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, observe instructions given by the Police, and stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
