In response to a review report submitted to the Government by the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) yesterday (April 25) on the fire incident on a train on the MTR Tsuen Wan Line in February this year, a spokesman for the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (April 26) said that the EMSD together with the Fire Services Department, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Transport Department, the Buildings Department and the Highways Department had examined the report and requested the MTRC to implement the recommended improvement measures including enhancing staff training, stepping up fire safety publicity and increasing the number of closed circuit televisions and fire service installations as soon as possible. The Government departments will provide advice as necessary.
