Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

Hung Kee Transportation Company Limited was fined $20,000 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (April 13) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 8, 2016, at an open-area public car park in Kwai Chung. A crane operator, while standing on one of the outriggers of a truck-mounted crane to operate the crane for loading and unloading goods, was struck by a displaced object and fell down to the ground. He sustained serious head injury and passed away a few days later.
