Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for tram track renewal works in Wan Chai District from Thursday
******************************************************************************************
     The Transport Department (TD) today (April 11) reminded the public that to facilitate tram track renewal work in Wan Chai District, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented from 9am this Thursday (April 13) to 11.59pm on April 23.

Road Closure
---------------
* Johnston Road westbound from its junction with Burrows Street to a point about 75 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except trams);

* Affected vehicles on Hennessy Road westbound heading to Johnston Road westbound will be diverted via Fleming Road southbound and Thomson Road; and

* Affected vehicles on Johnston Road westbound will be diverted via Burrows Street southbound, Wan Chai Road eastbound, Wood Road westbound, Burrows Street northbound and Wan Chai Road westbound.

Suspension of taxi pick-up/drop-off point
-----------------------------------------------
* The taxi pick-up/drop-off point on Johnston Road westbound outside Chuen Fung Building will be suspended.

     Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected area will be more congested than it is on normal days. Members of the public are advised to plan their journey in advance and allow more traveling time to cater for unexpected delay. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, follow the instructions of the Police, and stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

     Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
