FEHD raids unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long (with photo)

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) raided an unlicensed food factory on Hung To Road, Chau Tau, Lok Ma Chau, Yuen Long this morning (March 28).
 
     During the operation, FEHD officers seized pork head skins and pork scraps weighing about 1 860 kilograms and some cutting tools. A 66-year-old man was arrested and will be charged with operating an unlicensed food factory.
 
     "The FEHD will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses. Under the Food Business Regulation (Cap 132X), anyone operating an unlicensed food factory commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of $50,000 and imprisonment for six months upon conviction," a spokesman for the FEHD said.
 
     "Members of the public can report suspected unlicensed food premises by calling the FEHD hotline 2868 0000."
