Transcript of remarks by Chief Executive-elect at media session after attending radio programmes
******************************************************************************************
Following is a transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive-elect, Mrs Carrie Lam, after attending radio programmes this morning (March 28):

Reporter: Mrs Lam, would you be meeting Liaison Office officials soon? What sort of message will you be trying to pass on to them? Will you be telling them to comment less on Hong Kong's internal affairs, because that's something that many Hong Kong people are concerned about?

Chief Executive-elect: Well, my visit to the Central People's Government Liaison Office is part of the protocol requirements for the CE-elect, in the same way that I have already called upon the Chief Executive, the Acting Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal and the President of the Legislative Council. So arrangements are now being made by my office for me to call upon the Central People's Government Liaison Office, the Hong Kong Garrison of the People's Liberation Army and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I want to stress that these are really just courtesy calls from the CE-elect, who has been elected to become the next Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR). Normally, one will not go into matters of substance in those courtesy calls. But in light of the public perception and my own experience in this election campaign, I probably will share those experiences and observations and perceptions with friends in the Liaison Office, and make it very clear to them that it is public aspiration that under a high degree of autonomy, matters which are within Hong Kong's responsibility, Hong Kong Government's responsibility, should be handled by the Hong Kong SAR Government, and this is particularly relevant to our relationship with the Legislative Council. So I will share that observation and my own view on the matter.
