******************************************************************************************
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (March 21) met with the visiting Vice Minister of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, Mr Liu Junchen, to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. Mr So also signed a co-operative agreement on behalf of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau with Mr Liu at the meeting. The co-operative agreement fosters stronger ties between the two sides on a wide range of economic issues.

The co-operative agreement creates a framework to facilitate enhanced co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland in areas such as consumer protection, trademark protection, individually owned stores on the Mainland and combating anti-competitive behaviour.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr So said he welcomed closer bilateral co-operation in information sharing, policy exchanges, joint seminars and so forth.

"The Mainland is Hong Kong's largest trading partner. The co-operative agreement will strengthen co-operation between the two sides on economic policy areas of common interest, aiming to achieve mutual benefit," he said.
