Winners of Hong Kong Flower Show plant exhibit competition announced (with photos)

     The winners of the plant exhibit competition, which is one of the major activities of the Hong Kong Flower Show, were announced today (March 11). At the prize presentation ceremony, the best exhibits in the Open Competition Section and the Jockey Club School Section were each awarded with a 2017 Hong Kong Flower Show Cup.

     Mr Li Ping-fai won the Open Competition Section with his exquisite flowering bonsai, while students from Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Li Ka Shing College won the School Section with three outstanding flowering plants.

     The winner of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) Western Style Garden Plot Competition was Yau Tsim Mong District, while the winner of the LCSD Oriental Style Garden Plot Competition was Sai Kung District.

     The flower show, one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is now being held at Victoria Park until March 19 from 9am to 9pm daily (opening hours on March 11, 17 and 18 will be extended to 10pm). The show features "Blossoms of Love" as the main theme and the rose as the theme flower.

     More than 350 000 flowering plants including about 40 000 roses are on display. The event has attracted more than 240 organisations from 17 countries to take part in showcasing potted plants, floral arrangements and landscape displays, transforming Victoria Park into a colourful wonderland.

     A rich diversity of educational and recreational fringe activities are also being held for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages.

     Admission tickets are on sale at the entrances to the Victoria Park showground throughout the show period. Octopus can also be used to pay for admission. Tickets are also available for sale at the LCSD's District Leisure Services Offices until March 17.

     The flower show is organised by the LCSD. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is supporting the flower show for the fifth consecutive year, and has been the Major Sponsor of the flower show since 2014.
